Frequently asked questions
How do I turn the filter on?
Open AdBlock Pro Max and tap the big switch on Home. The first time, iOS asks you to allow a VPN configuration: tap Allow and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The status changes to Filtering and the filter stays on across Wi-Fi, cellular and restarts.
Why does iOS ask me to allow a VPN configuration?
That is the system permission for an on-device network filter. AdBlock Pro Max uses it to answer DNS lookups for ad hosts on your device. It does not route your traffic through any server, does not change your IP address and does not encrypt or inspect your connections. You can remove the configuration at any time in Settings › General › VPN & Device Management.
A game says no ad is available. What do I do?
Rewarded ads cannot load while the filter is on, because the game cannot reach the ad network. Tap Pause for 15 minutes on Home (or use the Shortcut), watch the ad, and the filter turns itself back on.
Something in an app stopped working. How do I allow a host?
Open Rules, tap the blocked-hosts log, find the host the app needs and tap Allow. Allow rules win over every list. If you are not sure which host it is, pause the filter for 15 minutes, use the feature, then check the log for what was blocked at that time. Custom rules are a Premium feature; pausing is free.
Can I use AdBlock Pro Max together with my VPN?
No. iOS runs one network filter or VPN at a time. When you connect a VPN app, the ad filter disconnects, and when you turn the filter on, the VPN disconnects. Pick the one you need at the moment.
How do I enable the Safari content blocker?
Open iOS Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions, and turn on AdBlock Pro Max. Safari then blocks the same ad hosts on web pages. This works whether or not the filter is on.
Why are ads still showing in a video or social app?
In video and social feeds the ads come from the same hosts as the content, so a DNS filter cannot block them without blocking the content. No DNS-based blocker can; we say so on the App Store page and in the app.
Does the filter use battery or slow things down?
No. Only DNS lookups pass through it; all other traffic takes its normal path. Blocked lookups are answered instantly on the device, so apps often load faster and use less data. Try the free ad block test to see which ad hosts your device can reach.
My Premium is missing after reinstalling or on a new device.
Open Settings in AdBlock Pro Max and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so make sure you are signed in with the same one you used to subscribe.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, or in the app under Settings › Manage Subscription; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period. Refunds are decided by Apple: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Clear statistics in Settings, or delete the app: that removes the filter configuration, statistics, rules and settings from your device. There is no account and we hold no copy.
How do I report an ad that got through, or an app that broke?
Email [email protected] with the app name, what you saw and, if you can, the host from the blocked-hosts log. We update the lists regularly; the current lists are published at /lists/v1/manifest.json.
