AdBlock Pro Max

Ad blocker · iPhone and iPad

Ads gone. Game on.

AdBlock Pro Max stops the ads inside your games and apps, not only in Safari. It is an on-device filter: no servers, no account, no logs. Nothing leaves your device.

Download on the App Store Free to start. No account needed.
  • Inside games and apps. Banners, interstitials and video ads from the big mobile ad networks never load.
  • Nothing leaves your device. Requests for ad hosts are answered on your phone. There is no server of ours in the way, ever.
  • Honest about the limits. We tell you what it cannot block before you install it. See the list.
AdBlock Pro Max Filtering 1,284 ads blocked today · 0 servers Google ads Unity Ads AppLovin Pause for 15 minutes

Built for the games you love and the ads you don't.

One switch

Turn it on once. The filter stays on across Wi-Fi, cellular and reboots, and there is nothing to configure. Pause for 15 minutes when a game needs to load a rewarded ad.

See what was stopped

Blocked requests are counted on your device and grouped by ad network, so you can see exactly which networks were behind the ads in your games.

Safari too

A built-in Safari content blocker stops the same ad hosts on the web, using the mechanism Apple designed for it. Enable it once in iOS Settings.

How it works, honestly

AdBlock Pro Max is an on-device DNS filter. Every app looks up the address of a server before it talks to it. The filter answers those lookups for known ad hosts on your device, and lets every other lookup through untouched.

  1. A game asks for an ad server

The ad SDK inside the game looks up a host such as an ad-network bidder or ad-serving endpoint.

  2. The filter answers on your device

If the host is on the blocklist, the lookup gets an empty answer instantly. The ad never downloads. Nothing is sent anywhere.

  3. Everything else goes straight through

Lookups not on the list go to your normal DNS resolver, exactly as before. Your traffic is not routed, encrypted or inspected by us.

About the "VPN configuration" prompt

To install the filter, iOS asks you to allow a VPN configuration. That is simply how iOS names an on-device network filter of this kind. AdBlock Pro Max is not a VPN service: it has no servers, does not change your IP address, does not hide your location and does not encrypt your connections. You can remove the configuration at any time in Settings › General › VPN & Device Management.

What it blocks, and what it cannot

We would rather tell you now than disappoint you later.

Blocks

  • Banner, interstitial and video ads served by the major mobile ad networks and mediation SDKs inside games and apps
  • The same ad hosts in Safari, through the content blocker
  • Trackers and analytics beacons, malware and phishing hosts, adult and gambling sites (Premium lists)
  • Anything you add yourself with a block rule (Premium)

Cannot block

  • Ads inside video and social feeds: those ads come from the same hosts as the content, so a DNS filter cannot tell them apart
  • Rewarded ads: they cannot load while the filter is on, so a game may say no ad is available. Pause for 15 minutes to watch one
  • Running at the same time as a VPN app: iOS allows one network filter or VPN at a time
  • Per-app settings: the filter cannot see which app sent a request, so rules apply to the whole device

The ad filter is free. Premium adds depth.

Nothing leaves your device

No servers

There is no server of ours in your data path. We cannot see your traffic because it never reaches us.

No account, no logs

No sign-up, no email. The filter keeps only counters on your device: how many requests were blocked, and for which hosts.

Open blocklist

The lists the app uses are published here, signed, and built from open sources plus our own curated list of ad-SDK hosts. Open blocklist.

Questions

Is AdBlock Pro Max free?

Yes. The core ad filter, the Safari content blocker, Pause for 15 minutes, Shortcuts and today's statistics are free, with no account and no ads of our own. Premium adds four extra lists (trackers and analytics, malware and phishing, adult content, gambling), unlimited allow and block rules, 7-day and 30-day statistics and daily list updates.

Why does iOS ask me to allow a VPN configuration?

That is the system permission for an on-device network filter. AdBlock Pro Max uses it to answer DNS requests for known ad hosts locally. It does not route your traffic through any server, does not change your IP address and does not encrypt or inspect your connections. It is not a VPN service.

What can it not block?

Ads inside video and social feeds, where the ads come from the same hosts as the content. Rewarded ads cannot load while the filter is on, so a game may say that no ad is available: pause for 15 minutes to watch one. There are no per-app settings, because the filter cannot see which app sent a request.

Can I use it together with my VPN?

No. iOS runs one network filter or VPN at a time. When you connect a VPN app, the ad filter is disconnected, and the other way round.

Does it slow down my phone or drain the battery?

No. Only DNS lookups pass through the filter; everything else takes its normal path. Blocked requests are answered instantly on the device, so apps often load faster and use less data.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The blocklist lives on your device. An internet connection is only needed to buy or restore a subscription and to download list updates.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Cancel anytime in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
